Description of Purden Lake Provincial Park
(Quartz Contracting):
Located 60 km E. of Prince George and 160km W. of McBride on Hwy 16. Nestled in rolling, forested mountains with open areas near the lakefront. Water sports and rainbow trout fishing. Swimming and walking trails.
Nestled in the rolling mountains east of Prince George, Purden Lake Provincial Park encompasses 140 hectares on the north shore of Purden Lake. The park is dominated by the Cariboo Mountains to the south and the McGregor range of the Rockies to the north. Densely forested upland with open areas near the lakefront provide pleasant surroundings for a shoreline stroll, swimming or angling for the lake's resident rainbow trout. |
Description of Purcell Wilderness Conservancy (East) Provincial Park:
The Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Park embraces six large drainages flowing east from the rugged backbone of the spectacular Purcell Mountain Range of south eastern BC. It is a challenging and undeveloped mountain landscape. Visitors to the Purcells should be experienced, self-sufficient wilderness travellers capable of reading maps and route finding. Wilderness recreation values include hunting, fishing, hiking, climbing, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. The Conservancy is a non-mechanized area. |
Description of Puntzi Lake Resort:
Puntzi Lake Resort has seven cabins located on or near the Puntzi Lake shore. These cabins share a central washroom, and each has a fire pit and plenty of fire wood nearby. An eighth cabin is located a short distance from Puntzi Lake and is self contained.
For tenters and R.V.ers, Puntzi Lake Resort has a parklike camp ground. The sites are on grass and most of them border Puntzi Lake. Sewers and 30 amp. electrical hookups are available as well as unserviced tent sites. |
Description of Pugged Point Marine Provincial Park:
Accessible by boat only, Rugged Point is home to one of the most beautiful stretches of shoreline on the entire west coast and offers spectacular views of the open Pacific Ocean and Kyuquot Sound.Inland, visitors will find old-growth forest with majestic Douglas fir trees, which adds to the scenic value of this undeveloped park. There are opportunities for walk-in wilderness camping here, as well as a small day-use/picnic area with a pit toilet, bear-proof food cache and an open-walled cooking/picnic shelter near the beach. Kapoose Creek runs through the park to empty into the Pacific, providing a supply of fresh water for boaters and campers.
There are no designated campsites at this park, however random beach camping is allowed along the westerly-facing beaches outside Kyuquot Sound.
This park is accessible year round.
The waters around Rugged Point are popular with recreational anglers for salmon fishing. |
