Description of Musket Island Marine Provincial Park: This area is popular with boaters for swimming, viewing, diving, fishing and wilderness camping. Musket Island provides a safe anchorage and is only an island at high tide. A park bench located on Musket Island provides an excellent spot to sit and take in the beautiful scenery of the area. The warm, clean and green waters surrounding the area are reminiscent of a more tropical place. This park is subject to southeast winds during the winter; use caution when anchoring. |

(Kootenay Forest Resources): Twelve kilometres of jade-colored water will tell you that you have reached Muncho Lake. You have the choice of camping at Strawberry Flats campground or at MacDonald campground, 11 km further north. Recreationists ahoy! Go on a boat tour and learn about the history of the lake – Muncho Lake Tours operates daily trips. The lake’s cold, deep waters, tinted green by minerals, are home to lake trout, arctic grayling, bull trout and whitefish. Toss out a line and try your luck. This park offers vehicle accessible campsites on a first-come, first-served basis - campsite reservations are not accepted. |
